Vikings!!!

Its been a productive couple of days. I have finished the first two 4pt Warbands for Saga.

Here a shot of Ragnor Lodbrok, hero of the viking age. I have used him as normal warlord for the first warband, but he could be used as hero in  a larger game.

His Army, is 2 points of HeathGuard( 4 troops each berserkers and dane axes) and 2 pts of Bondi ( 8 warriors each. Sorry I could get a better picture.

The second warband, is 3 pts of Heathguard and 1 pt of Bondi, though to take this one to 2 pts of Heathguard, 1 pt of Bondi and 1 pt of Levy.

On with the Anglo Danes..................

Saga Fever

I've come down with a case of Saga Fever. I'd been trying to avoid it since seeing it at Triples 2011, I went through 2 days at Triples this year and nearly managed to buy no new period or impulse purchases, but then I cracked and picked up a copy of the Saga rulebook. Swiftly followed by 3 more impulse buys, but thankfully those were for existing projects.

Having read the rulebook, I picked up a box of Vikings from Curtey's Miniatures along with some excellent Shield Transfers made by Battleflag. I also picked up a viking hero, beserkers and some  levy Archers from North Star Miniatures.

Having finished off the Ancients and French Indian Wars Projects last Thursday, I made a start on the Vikings, the plan is to do two four point warbands  for them. By Friday I'd realised that they were not going to take too long to finish, so I made a call to Wargames Emporium and picked up a Welsh and a Anglo-Dane Starter Army. The current aim is to have both the Viking warbands and the Anglo-Dane's finished by the end of June, whilst still working my through the Arctic Strike Battlegroup at the same time.

Clash of Arms 1643

The year of our Lord 1643, our most beloved General Sir William Waller caught up with the reknown Royalist Sir Beville Grenville to the east of the hamlet of Love-it-Upham. Wallers Regiment of foote can be seen at the front, with the Farnham Greencoats of Jones to their right, with Weldon's Redcoats behind Waller as they approach the royalist stoutly defending the hedgeline.

The Parliament left flank can be seen below, the royalist can be seen in background. The royalist were finally forced to flee the field and withdrew down the valley to Dangly End.

The action was played at the Maltby Club, using Regiment of Foote Rules and  10mm Pendraken Figures painted by me.

French Indian War

Started to finish these off today, just need to flock a good portion of the bases. They are 4 scalping sets, indian villagers, two sets of settlers and british firing line of 12 painted to represent the 44th East Essex.

I'm prety sure that this batch takes the total i have painted for this period to over 250.

Roman Legions and Greek Peltast's

A while ago I painted two 500 point armies for Impetus, One for me (Carthagians) and the other for Cozy(Romans). Since then many things have come to pass, except a Roman victory over the Carthage!

Cozy has since acquired a Greek Hoplite Army, that I rebased and painted some additional units earlier this year. Recently Baccus have released some Greek Generals and some remasters of the Ancients Range. So i have painted two new legions of new sculpts, 6 stands of Greek generals and 6 bases of Peltasts. Finished basing and varnishing these today.

Arctic Strike Nowegian's

Last week I took delivery of a packet from Heriocs and Ros. I must say Andy Kirk, must have pulled out all the stops as it only took 48 hours from order to delivery.

The order was the first batch I will have to order a few more.

BV206's and M113's were the first to get the treatment.
